Dragonfly

Dragonflies have been in existence on this earth for over 300 million years, a true symbol of strength, power and resilience.

They are fascinating and if you have ever sat by a body of water and watched them fly around and do their own thing it is amazing to see, it's meditative and mesmerising.

​

I have always loved Dragonflies, they symbolise self coming into maturity.

From past to present, from dark to light, from struggle to strength, and the ability to grow and change.

 

In different cultures, dragonflies are associated with different meanings:

Transformation and Maturity

The dragonfly undergoes a remarkable transformation from a nymph to an adult, symbolizing transformation and the journey to maturity. It can represent personal growth and development.

Illusions and Self-Realisation

The dragonfly is known for its exceptional flying abilities. In the spiritual context, this may symbolise the ability to see through illusions and self-created limitations, allowing for a clearer understanding of oneself and the world.

Dragonflies are often associated with joy and happiness. Their presence can be a reminder to embrace the positive aspects of life and to be open to change. They symbolise the wisdom of adapting to the inevitable changes in life.

The dragonfly's life cycle includes a period of time spent as a nymph in water before emerging as a winged adult. This transition is symbolic of new beginnings and the emergence of a more evolved self.
